Position: Assistant Superintendent

The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the construction schedule to ensure that the project remains on track.  Quality, Safety, and Production Deadlines are the primary focus of the Assistant Superintendent. To be successful, the Assistant Superintendent must be able to perform these duties with little to no oversight. 
  
Typical Duties: 
Typical duties will include but not be limited to the following: 

  • Assist operations, the Project Manager, and the Superintendent in the initial setup and planning of each job assigned.  
  • Set up and maintain the on-site job trailer along with the Superintendent. Set up all on-site office trailer files and office equipment. Maintain the on-site office throughout the entire operation. 
  • Enforce company policy, legal, and contractual best practices regarding the on-site level.
  • Develop, establish, implement, and enforce all safety standards required for the assigned job. Must meet OSHA minimal requirements or greater.
  • Familiarize and understand job blueprints, the scope of work, and the subcontractor’s contractual obligations.
  • Assist the Superintendent with the coordination and management of the assigned job along with any other tasks that may be assigned to you.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of all on-site operations, at all times.
  • Present yourself with the highest moral standards as required as a representative of ICON NATIONAL.
  • Site appearance to meet ICON National expectations and will be the responsibility of the Assistant Superintendent to maintain. 


Essential Functions: 

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: 

  • Help locate and assess subcontractors for the assigned job.
  • Monitor subcontractor’s performance. Intervene when performance falls below an acceptable level.
  • Develop strategies for motivating subcontractors to provide above-average performance.
  • Develop metrics and time restraints for subcontractor’s performance in all categories.
  • Help build and establish a good relationship between management, owners, and subcontractors of ICON NATIONAL.
  • Coordinate all efforts and procedures with the Project Management Team. Keep the Superintendent updated at all times and inform him/her of all changes and situations that may arise during the job.
  • Maintain, report, and record all job expenditures utilizing ICON NATIONAL standard cost codes. Ascertain approval for all expenditures through the ICON NATIONAL’s corporate office.
  • Record and ensure that the scope of work is being completed on time, with good quality, and properly completed.
  • Monitor and enforce all safety standards and rules that have been established for each job site. Maintain all safety records including but not limited to Safety Checklists, Incident Reports, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), OSHA Inspections, and all other information that pertains to the safety of the job site.  Ensure the job site is clean and safe by completing a construction safety checklist daily.
  • Establish and nurture the client/ICON NATIONAL relationship. Represent ICON NATIONAL at the highest level at all times.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Project Manager and the Superintendent.

 

Skills and Special Requirements/Licensing: 

  • OSHA 10 Safety Training.
  • Experience working with occupied renovation projects.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook), Viewpoint (or equal), Visio, and AIA.
  • Pre-employment background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record.

  • Hours may be flexible as workloads dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Position will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to   Client’s office, potential projects, and construction jobsites.
